The harvest is in, and when it comes to the abundance of the season, the historic district bursts at the seams in more ways than one. Enriching cultural activities, culinary splendour, the terrifically terrifying – welcome back to a fall that’s fun for one and all.

Autumnal Unmissables

Photographic Excellence at Marché Bonsecours

A visually striking notch on the fall cultural calendar, the World Press Photo Montreal Exhibition is ongoing until Oct. 13. Featuring stand-out works by 42 photographers from 30 countries, this engaging and inspiring event is a most stunning complement to an already stunning season.

Knights

Until Oct. 19 at Pointe-à-Callière, chivalry is decidedly not dead. Proper knighthood is yours to experience with an impressive exhibition exploring the lives of the knights of old, taking you from the castle to the tournament to the battlefield – armour, swords and challenges included.

Pick a Peck of Pumpkins

The Château Ramezay is getting its gourd on again with an invitation to discover the wonderful world of pumpkins. Stroll the Governor’s Garden with Rougenelle, the friendly pumpkin, while learning all about the season’s signature squash in a way that’s fun, free and full of fresh air!

Things That Make Us Go “Boo!”

A Hair-Raising Tour

Wander the dark alleys of Old Montreal and get your spine tingled with Spooky Talesheld in collaboration with Montréal Ghosts. Hear stories of the macabre told by a grim host of characters as you explore the district at night, while fascinated and shuddering in equal parts.

Halloween, Old Port Style

The Old Port is going full Halloween with a witches’ brew of activities the whole family will enjoy. Get lost and a little scared in a gigantic maze of mystery courtesy of SOS Labyrinthe. Soar through the air in “Bat Flight” with MTL Zipline (and score some goodies if you’re dressed in your Halloween best). Enjoy a “Terror Jump” at Montréal Bungee, complete with jack-o-lanterns and freaky sounds. Ever try a round of haunted mini-putt? Mini-Putt Montréal has you covered. Add to this thrilling list the all-new and unmissable Fall Fair, featuring nearly two dozen rides, a host of attractions and, of course, a haunted house. Yup, it's “Boo!” time.

Montréal à Table (Oct. 30 - Nov. 16)

Montréal à Table is back and the old quarter is once again making it a table to remember with several shining standouts deserving of a mention:

Mignon - 101 Saint-Paul Street West

This destination for mouthwatering steak frites is offering up a 4-course special for the occasion, featuring, bien sûr, their signature steak with Mignon sauce. Superb wine pairings available.

Balboa - 105 Saint-Paul Street West

Balboa is bringing the buonissimo with a menu showcasing delectable rustic Italian fare done with a contemporary twist, including original wood-fired pizza sure to be a hit, as always.

Santos - 191 Saint-Paul Street West

This neighbourhood nightlife institution will be tempting us with its tapas ways and latin vibes – think ceviche, tacos and a churro cheesecake that has to be tried. Welcome to Happier Hour.

Máti - 185 Saint-Paul Street West

Enjoy a trip to Greece with a sumptuous spread of “mezzes” at this authentic Hellenic taverna. Loukaniko, gemista, baklava ice cream, wine pairings… Máti brings the “Opa!” to Old Montreal.

“Season” is synonymous with “celebration” in the historic district, and when it comes to fall, the celebration is in full swing. As the hot summertime buzz has given way to the crisp air and fiery leaves, and our illuminated winter wonderland is just around the corner, now’s your chance to take advantage of every aspect of this fleeting time of year in Old Montreal – beauty, deliciousness, thrills and all. À très bientôt!
