News & Issues in Old Montreal – Business Community Consultation
In the summer of 2025, the SDC Vieux-Montréal launched a consultation project with the local community to take the pulse of its members regarding macroeconomic issues that could influence the visibility, commercial vitality, and ultimately the development of Old Montreal in the coming years.
By surveying the expectations of the business community on various topics, the SDC aims to contribute meaningfully to the discussions considered in decision-making processes affecting the historic district.

Construction project in Old Montreal: PHI Contemporain
Preparatory work for the PHI Contemporain project has been underway since August 4, 2025. These interventions concern the historic buildings at the corner of Bonsecours and Saint-Paul Streets and aim to secure and preserve their exterior façades.
- Work will continue until fall 2025
- It includes masonry restoration, foundation waterproofing, and excavation work
- Sidewalk detours will be in place on Saint-Paul and Bonsecours Streets, but access to businesses and residences will be maintained
- Dust and noise protection measures are planned to minimize impacts on the neighbourhood
During this period, all PHI activities will continue as usual.
