A Perfect Long Weekend in Old Montreal

The long weekend is on the horizon and you’re looking forward to this well-deserved break. However, you don’t need to travel to New York or the country to make the most out of it! I would suggest planning a four-day extravaganza in Old Montreal.

TO VISIT

This weekend, take full advantage of your extra day(s) off to go on a tour of the Pointe-à-Callière Museum where you will be transported to Agatha Christie’s fascinating universe during the Investigating Agatha Christie exhibit. The exhibit will displayed until April 17 and you really don’t want to miss it! Also, the new Fragments of Humanity exhibit will be quite ravishing for fans of Quebec’s history and archeology.

For its part, the Château Ramezay invites you along for its 120-minute-long Suivre le chef! culinary circuit which will quite literally give you a taste of history. During the tour, you will be served small bites prepared by local restaurants that are inspired by recipes dating as far as the 18^th century!

TO EAT

The sun has been shining strong these last couple of days and summer seems to be right around the corner. So on your way out from the museum, why not stop at one of the neighbourhood’s ice cream parlours for the season’s first soft-serve? The Dairy Queen on Place Jacques-Cartier opens as of this weekend!

Also, many local restaurants have a special Easter brunch prepared for you this Sunday, March 27. You have a lot of places to choose from: the Auberge Saint-Gabriel, Suite 701, Verses, Vieux-Port Steakhouse and Osco. STAY ACTIVE

Walking is definitely the best way to get around in Old Montreacg a good pair of shoes along! You can start your excursion near the wharfs of the Old Port and continue alongside the river until you reach the Montreal Science Center for a marvellous end to your long weekend. We suggest Wild Africa: a film that will take the whole family on an exotic journey to the heart of the continent’s wildlife. The film is screening in both French and English all 4 days of the long weekend.

TIP: If you’re thinking of using your car in the neighbourhood, parking it in the spaces on the wharfs of the Old Port, especially the King Edward wharf near the Science Centre (20$ for all-day parking), is definitely the best worriless option. This will definitely make your life easier and stress-free if you have any logistics issues with strollers/walkers, etc.
