MUSIC ZONES 2017:

65 FREE CONCERTS IN THE DISTRICT THIS SUMMER

The Music Zones are back in Old Montreal for their 5th anniversary with a newly designed schedule for each of the 3 series: Midi Indie, Apéro Classique and Pause Piano. In total, the district is hosting 65 free open-air concerts – one every day – at the Place d’Armes and the Parc éphémère, between lunch and cocktail hours from July 1st to September 3rd inclusively. Workers, residents and visitors of the district, you are all welcome to bask in a moment of music! Come check it out, you won’t be disappointed! The SDC Vieux-Montréal wishes you all the best as you discover new styles and spend some quality time in the Music Zones.

Rendez-vous at the Place d’Armes over lunch, from Tuesday to Friday, for a MIDI INDIE. A total of 36 up-and-coming bands from Montréal will be there to present their very original creations which vary between Rock, Pop, Folk, Indie and Reggae, R&B, Soul and Jazz with some ingeniously incepted cross-influences. Attention all regulars: The winners of the 21st edition of the Francouvertes will be on site on July 25, and August 18 and 24.

Weekends from 4PM to 6PM, the Place d’Armes will host the APÉRO CLASSIQUE series. Saturdays and Sundays, 20 ensembles will interpret with brio a vast repertoire of tunes ranging from the classics to contemporary creations. An exceptional concert will christen the celebrations: On Saturday July 1st, the Festival d’orgue de Montréal will set up an organ in front of the Notre-Dame Basilica. Curious eyes and ears will be able to discover the versatility of this instrument by tuning in to a public demonstration followed by a projection of silent films on the spot. Also, for the first time ever, Tango fans will be invited to come listen to Argentine melodies and dance along during all four Sundays of the month of August.

PAUSE-PIANO is a musical series offered in the Faubourg des Récollets, in the Parc éphémère. The piano program will allow you to discover original musical content drawing influence from Jazz, Song, Pop and a bit of Tango. All 9 Mondays of July and August, you are invited to eat al fresco, on picnic tables or on the grass, and discover the charm that resides in this urban oasis.

Can’t wait to see you all in numbers!
