Vikings Land at Pointe-à-Callière

Vikings Land at Pointe-à-Callière

14.04.2022 – 10.10.2022

You know about vikings through Netflix series, several media examples, pop culture knowledge, and our (maybe distant, but no less captivating) history classes, but they all have nothing on the new immersive VIKINGS - Dragons of the Northern Seas exhibit at the Pointe-à-Callière Museum.

Between myth and reality, these figures that have captivated minds and fearlessly conquered land and sea from 793 to 1066 were at once farmers, merchants, navigators, and warriors, and you can learn about them through four narratives: the tale of origins, the tale of life, the tale of voyage, and the tale of the end of days.

Plunging you into the exciting world of the vikings, there will be more than 650 items and artifacts in total originating from collections from the National Museum of Denmark, exceptionally staged and punctuated by images from Ubisoft’s video game Assassin’s Creed Valhalla. You will learn about them and their mythology, as well as the “values and practices of Scandinavian society, the role of the individual, the importance of navigation, and Nordic heritage in pop culture”.

This exhibit is being run by Pointe-à-Callière, Montreal Archaeology and History Complex, in partnership with the National Museum of Denmark, and MuseumsPartner in Austria.
