28 March 2024 to 26 May 2024

Originally from Ontario, now a Montrealer, James Gardner offers a heuristic re-reading of Western esoteric iconography, asking how images can transform, control, and define us as a society?

In Ecstatic Distance, "painting becomes a tool for critically revisiting certain Western traditions from monastic, religious and spiritual cultures, in a style that mimics the effect of time and accumulation on objects, sometimes even the appearance of decay and decomposition." This exhibition, drawn from James's latest research and encounters in Greece and Turkey, consists of the artist's most recent pictorial experiments.

Good to know: The exhibition on view from March 28 to May 26, 2024 will be in the Fonderie Darling's Petite Galerie. N.B.: Schedules and more details can be found directly on the company's website.
