Surf and Turf to Have Delivered in Old Montreal

Surf and Turf to Have Delivered in Old Montreal

Recognized for its bold and trendy establishments, we love le Vieux for its unmatched gastronomy scene. So, if you’re looking to put some earthbound fare or some seafood shares on your plate, start at the top of this list to find out where you should get your dinner started.

THE TURF

Gibbys, a tried and true institution of the historic neighbourhood, is offering carryout baskets that are “ready-to-cook”. We love this well-thought out concept, which lets you treat yourself and guarantees freshness and quality! (Sun.-Thurs., 5 p.m.-10 p.m., and Fri.-Sat., 5 p.m.-11 p.m.)

The restaurant L’orignal is famous for its decadent bison burger, but also offers its wide range of items for delivery or carryout starting from October 8th. We love that they use a high quality local supply chain! Stay tuned to their Instagram for further information! (Wed.-Sun., 5 p.m.-9 p.m.)

It goes without saying that Garde-Manger sounds like paradise for anyone wanting a gourmet meal without sacrificing the ability to carry it out or have it delivered. We wavered between the seafood and the land-based food – the onglet steak is exquisite, but those tempting scallops...! Pssst! think about trying some takeaway wine and their Chuck Hugues sauces while you’re at it. (Tues.-Sat., 5 p.m.-9 p.m.)

THE SURF

Porto Mar is offering its menu to go, and as for us, we’re ordering the grilled sardines and Piri Piri calamari! We love these two specialties, because every time we order them, we feel as if we’re on vacation in Portugal. But the rest of the menu is also well worth exploring.

Fish Bone has always satisfied us and its delivery/carryout menu, to be placed through the apps Uber Eats and Skip The Dishes or directly by telephone (514-849-4424), brings uncompromising excellence that we’ve seen in person. Interested in a gourmet Japanese meal? With their great selection of maki, you’ll get just that, and so much more! (Thursday to Sunday from 5 p.m).

Jellyfish Crudo+Charbon is another neighbourhood business that knows its terroir as well. But we have to admit, our weakness from the menu is the tuna noodles and tomato aguachile with perfectly balanced notes of ginger, shizo, yuzu, and soy. Never had it before? You’re missing out! (on Uber Eats and Skip The Dishes, Mon. and Tues. 5:30 p.m.-10 p.m., Wed. and Thurs. 5:30 p.m.-10:30 p.m., Fri. and Sat. 5:30 p.m.-11 p.m.).

AND WE CAN’T FORGET THE MAPLE!

Délices Érable et Cie is a boutique with outstanding charm, owned by producers that sell top-of-the-line maple syrup, honey, and cranberry based products that can perfectly heighten and revitalize your home cuisine. From maple butter to creative spice blends, there are so many great ideas here! Take note that delivery is free within Canada for orders over $75 (Thursday to Sunday from noon to 7 p.m.).
