Montreal, March 27 — A spring outreach campaign, produced by the SDC Vieux-Montréal and made possible through financial support from the City of Montreal as part of a program aimed at supporting streets affected by major construction, invites the public to rediscover the freshly redesigned western section of Saint-Paul Street.

A new segment of Saint-Paul Street West nears completion

As Montreal's oldest commercial thoroughfare — officially established in 1673 — Saint-Paul Street, an iconic landmark of the historic district, will complete the first phase of its third round of construction work by early summer 2026. Now featuring an upgraded streetscape design built around a shared-street concept with wider sidewalks and a reduced roadway, the section between Saint-Laurent Boulevard and Saint-François-Xavier will henceforth be brought into harmony with the eastern stretches, which were themselves revamped over the course of the past decade. This significant modernisation of both above-ground and underground infrastructure will notably restore the heritage character of the area, while establishing a far more cohesive identity for visitors, who will now be able to move from east to west with ease.

A campaign shining a spotlight on local businesses

It is in a spirit of renewal that the SDC Vieux-Montréal is launching this digital promotional campaign, placing the businesses of Saint-Paul Street West front and centre as part of its outreach strategy. The initiative aims, on one hand, to enhance the appeal of the area by showcasing the distinctive character of its commercial offerings, and on the other, to celebrate the resilience and dynamism of the business owners who have weathered significant disruption over the past several years as a result of this major construction project.

People at the heart of the content strategy

To bring the campaign to life, a diverse range of content will be rolled out across the SDC's digital platforms, shining a light in various ways on the people and the sixty or so businesses that contribute to the commercial vitality of the western section of the street on a daily basis. Address book suggestions, behind-the-scenes anecdotes and entrepreneur portraits will populate the SDC Vieux-Montréal's social media channels over a five-week period, setting the stage beautifully for the arrival of the summer season.
