It’s no secret: in le Vieux, we love eating well! Here’s a small overview of some charming new places to discover.

To Discover

LE PETIT SAO

After having delighted its clientele in Île-des-Soeurs and Pointe-Saint-Charles, Le Petit Sao has set up shop in Old Montreal (delivery or take-out only, for the moment). Here, you can enjoy their bahn mi or their highly coloured Vietnamese bowls in the park directly across from the restaurant, and wash it down with some of their famous homemade lemonade. Perfect on a beautiful summer day!

LOAM

Among the newer restaurants in the neighbourhood, we want to highlight LOAM, which arrived during the height of picnic season. A few steps away from Bonsecours Market, this wine bar was made for tasting, sampling, sharing, and conversing in hearty companionship. Their food is crafted with seasonal ingredients from local producers.

TOUK

Set up inside Parliament, Touk, is the new pop-up project from Chef Chanthy Yen in collaboration with Kevin Demers. It offers a no-nonsense menu brimming with the delicious flavours of Cambodia. Plus, you can kill two birds with one stone by grabbing some of the pre-mixed cocktails from the Coldroom. Just add the alcohol of your choice!

APÉROTOGO

When happy hour calls, there’s no need to ask a bunch of questions – Apérotogo will take care of everything! This new initiative from Hambar will transform your run-of-the-mill happy hour to a true culinary experience, to be delivered or taken out. Great news: now you finally have access to Hambar’s cellar!

FRANKLIN’S SUBS AND SUDS

This new little shop won’t go unnoticed for long. Franklin’s Subs and Suds on Saint-Paul is the place to go if you’re in the mood to devour a succulent Philly Cheesesteak – their specialty. You can either eat it amidst their great graffiti and arcade cabinet décor, or take it to go, wherever you choose! If you stay in the restaurant, you can order a nice, refreshing beer to accompany your sub, or otherwise share a pitcher of sangria with your friends or coworkers.

UNIBAR

Are you craving some fries or poutine, or maybe dreaming of a great burger? Look no further than Unibar! Open from Wednesday to Sunday, noon to 10 p.m., Unibar will satisfy your every need! Also great menu choices: organic wine and beers! Try Unibar, it will surely become your regular hang-out!

GABRIELLE

Gabrielle on Notre-Dame is a new restaurant that can do it all. From your morning coffee and pastry, to an elegant noontime lunch, to a classy evening dining experience, they’ve got you covered. All day, they offer a great selection of Quebec cheeses, house jams, and fresh products to go. This establishment is open Tuesday through Saturday from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m.

To Rediscover

OLIVE ET GOURMANDO

O+G has opened its doors wide to telephone and pick-up orders. Of course, if you simply drop by, you can also satisfy your impromptu hunger with a nice treat from their menu. Choose your sandwiches, desserts, granolas, and drinks at window 1, and receive your bounty at window 2. Note that in addition to their gourmet recipe book, you can now leave with a bottle of wine from their take-home selection! Psst: Find them on Netflix, in the series Somebody feeds Phil!

DANDY

To our great pleasure, the magnificent Dandy is open once more from Wednesday to Sunday between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. Their dishes full of freshness and comfort, created by the talents of Michael and his team, know how to satisfy. For dine-in or take-out.

CAFÉ MÈRE-GRAND

Situated in the Old Port, the warm and lively café Mère-Grand is the place to enjoy refined, healthy salads, gourmet sandwiches, and comforting seasonal desserts, just like grandma used to make.

MARTINE À LA GARE

This summer, take the time to discover Martine à la gare, a great little restaurant on Berri Street, in the same block as Viger Station, whose fresh products are all homemade. The owner, Martine, wanted to make her restaurant a versatile and festive location… and in that, she has succeeded! In addition to dining in from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m., you can also order some dishes (such as their famous quiches) to take home.

MARCHÉ DE LA VILLETTE

If you find yourself on or around Saint-Paul West, make a stop at Marché de la Villette to try their charcuterie, terrines, confits, and house foie-gras, or their hot dishes, like their excellent cassoulet. The French bistro ambiance of the place will instantly charm!

CAFÉ LUDO

Directly across from boxing studio, Panda Boxing, Café Ludo is the perfect place to drink a coffee along with a nutritional snack. However, don’t think for a second that coffee is the only thing they have here – on their menu, you will find several smoothies with entertaining names like Bulba Green and Choco-Moon! Plus, the atmosphere in the café created by the wall art and the music they play will allow you to strongly appreciate this pause to your doubtlessly super busy day!
