Seven Montreal actresses take you behind the scenes of Shakespeare's plays with "Thy Woman's Weeds", offering an introspective look at what it means for a contemporary woman to immerse herself in the works of William Shakespeare.

Author Erin Shields offers a feminist reinterpretation of Shakespeare's work through a modern adaptation. This approach brings to light the less explored aspects of Shakespeare's texts, as well as raising current social challenges that hinder women's full participation in the performing arts.

In this play, you'll see Lady Capulet struggling to maintain her attractiveness alongside the young and energetic Juliet, Goneril claiming the complex role of King Lear, Hermia lamenting the sartorial constraints that prevent her from wearing the women's clothes she prefers, and Desdemona clamoring for an intimacy coach. All this, while the director encourages Lady Macbeth to "sexualize her unsexing", Ophelia rages against patriarchy and the chorus of actresses barely contain their emotion at what they are experiencing, whether on stage or backstage.
