Come experience the culture of techno through a 3-part journey with the exhibit TECHNO WORLDS. This international scale exhibit is coming to Montreal for a few weeks to celebrate the combined anniversaries of Goethe-Institut, Centre PHI, and Société des arts technologiques. These three institutions have worked together to present an exhibit at the crossroads of music, art, pop, media, and technology in line with the multifaceted techno scene.
The first part of the trip takes place at Centre PHI with “An Exhibition During the Day”. The impact of techno on both culture and music cannot be understated, and here you will discover different works from the genre. They take their inspiration from the history and sound of techno music, communities and networks, as well as techno & design.
The second part, titled “An Exhibition in the Afternoon and from Sunset to Midnight”, will take place at Goethe-Institut. The different works shown here touch on the phenomenon of techno from the perspective of cultural and music history, feminism, and Afro-futurism. Fans of fashion will also notice magazines and articles of clothing from the 90s featured here.
The last part of the exhibit is in the basement of Société des arts technologiques. You will be immersed in rave culture via different types of installations. This technological immersion will show how raves functioned as liberating experiences for certain communities.
Entry for the various exhibits is free and you do not need to reserve a spot. Follow this link for further information about the different parts and hours of operation.
