ChâteauRamezayTellstheStoryoftheAmericanRevolutioninQuébec
Château Ramezay invites visitors to explore a pivotal chapter in Québec's history through the exhibition The American Revolution in Québec – Our Journey to Democracy. Presented in the very building that served as the headquarters of the Continental Army in 1775 and 1776, the exhibition retraces the events that shaped Québec's political evolution and paved the way toward Canadian Confederation.
Through a chronological journey, visitors will discover the key milestones that marked Québec's path toward democracy. From the fall of New France to Confederation in 1867, including Benjamin Franklin's visit to Château Ramezay, the Patriote Rebellions, and the political leadership of Honoré Mercier, the exhibition highlights the struggles, debates, and aspirations that helped shape the democratic institutions we know today.
Featuring historical artifacts, archival documents, and engaging interpretive displays, the exhibition offers a deeper understanding of the connections between the American Revolution and Québec's own democratic development. It is a unique opportunity to rediscover this defining period of history in one of Montréal's oldest and most iconic heritage buildings.
