BlockPartyonthePointe
On June 21, Pointe-à-Callière kicks off its summer programming with the Block Party on the Pointe, a free festive event celebrating the arrival of summer, community spirit, and the living heritage of Old Montréal. Held on the Museum’s outdoor plaza, this lively gathering invites visitors of all ages to enjoy an afternoon of activities in a welcoming and vibrant atmosphere.
Presented in collaboration with Terres en Vues and the Old Port of Montréal Corporation, this special edition highlights both National Indigenous Peoples Day and the 325th anniversary of the Great Peace of Montréal. Throughout the afternoon, visitors can enjoy pow-wow dance performances, a musical storytelling session, an electro-pop music and dance performance, and an outdoor DJ set. A continuous Talking Sticks Workshop will also offer participants the opportunity to learn about Indigenous traditions of dialogue, listening, and knowledge sharing.
The program begins with pow-wow dance performances at 1:30 p.m. and 2:15 p.m., followed by a musical storytelling performance at 1:45 p.m. At 2:45 p.m., visitors can enjoy an electro-pop music and dance performance, before the afternoon concludes with a DJ set starting at 4:00 p.m. A relaxation area and welcoming outdoor spaces will also be available throughout the site, while L’Arrivage Bistro will be on hand with refreshments and snacks.
For the occasion, the Museum’s permanent exhibitions will remain exceptionally open until 7:00 p.m. (admission fees apply), offering a perfect opportunity to extend the experience and discover new interpretive content related to the Great Peace of Montréal Treaty.
Whether with family or friends, come celebrate the start of summer in the warm and festive atmosphere of this community gathering in the heart of Old Montréal.
