A digital mini-series produced by the SDC Vieux-Montréal brings the history of Montreal’s oldest neighbourhood back to life through local actors, archival content, and contemporary tools.

As part of an outreach initiative implemented by the SDC Vieux-Montréal and made possible through a City of Montreal program aimed at supporting the Saint-Paul Street West sector currently undergoing major construction, the organization has devised a dynamic and modern way to showcase the neighbourhood’s historical narratives on its social media platforms. Old Montreal Chronicles will thus be presented in an efficient and engaging format, featured exclusively on the SDC Vieux-Montréal’s Instagram and TikTok accounts starting the week of September 22 through to October 31, 2025.

The first edition will focus on the geographical area of Saint-Paul Street West and its surroundings, transporting audiences to both the Old Montreal of today and of centuries past. Archival content integrated into the montage of each episode will be brought to life thanks to artificial intelligence, allowing viewers to fully grasp the scope of the stories and anecdotes shared.

With the rollout taking place over a total of 6 weeks, the general public will have access to a new historical episode every day, making for a cumulative total of 40 historical episodes, each one thoughtfully made accessible and captivating for a wide audience. With stories that are at times informative, at times amusing, and often completely unknown to the public, the different themes covered are sure to pique the curiosity of the uninitiated as well as that of the most seasoned history buffs, many of whom share a deep love for Old Montreal!

The content of this mini-series, prepared with passion and meticulous attention to detail, was brought together through the invaluable contribution of experienced industry professionals, including Guidatour, which is celebrating its 40th anniversary this year. It was also made possible thanks to two outstanding certified tour guides who know the history of the city and our neighbourhood like the back of their hand. It is through the voices of these two devoted history aficionados, Pierre & Sarah, that audiences will discover the totality of the content of Old Montreal Chronicles - Saint Paul Street West Edition, right in the midst of the return of the fall cultural season.
