Celebrating Father’s Day in Old Montreal

Celebrating Father’s Day in Old Montreal

As the Grand Prix weekend gets underway in Old Montreal, it's also Father's Day. Fans of cars and thrills are in for a treat. For dads who prefer other kinds of celebrations, there's no shortage of them in Old Montreal.

A delicious meal

3 Brasseurs, 105 Saint-Paul Street East

For Father's Day, ribs are back at 3 Brasseurs. Enjoy beer-braised ribs topped with a homemade BBQ sauce. Pair them with crispy fries and a creamy coleslaw, and you're in for a real treat.

Pincette, Lobster Bar, 94 Saint-Paul Street East

At Pincette, as you would expect, the main ingredient on the menu is… lobster! Dressed with all sorts of sauces, from lobster rolls to poutine, and of course pasta dishes. They also serve fish & chips, oysters, and tartares. Pops will love the décor, reminiscent of a fishing shack straight out of the maritime provinces. We really… clamped on to this new restaurant, which recently opened its doors just a few months ago in Old Montreal!

Wolf & Workman, 139 Saint-Paul Street West

This gastropub is the Burgundy Lion Group’s most recent. They showcase local products here, in both their bar selection as well as their food. Enjoy the English classics all day, from brunch to evening supper. We also love Wolf & Workman for their great trivia nights. Gift cards are available.

Bloom Sushi Saint-Paul, 368 Saint-Paul Street West

Vegan sushi exists? Absolutely! The team at Bloom has been working for three years to show that a passion for sushi can pair well with the desire to contribute to sustainable practices… and we’d say their mission was a success! We love chasing these natural bites with some of their organic beer, sake, or even sparkling wine. After all, it’s a holiday, you gotta celebrate it! Gift cards are available.

Dandy, 244 Saint-Jacques Street

A spectacular lunch and brunch destination, Dandy will impress anyone with its bright décor and its savoury menu. With a selection of toast spreads, ricotta pancakes, fried chicken, cocktails, organic wines, and more, there’s something here to satisfy the taste buds of even the most particular dad!

Holder, 407 McGill Street

One of the city’s most frequented restaurants, Holder, has been open for almost 20 years now. It almost floats in this beautiful space with high ceilings and expansive windows, giving it a real luxurious feeling. An example of dishes you’ll find here includes foie gras, leg of lamb, duck confit, lobster ravioli, and more… Vegetarian options are also available.

Vallier Bistro, 425 McGill Street

Does your dad have a bit of a weakness for comfort food? Look no further than Vallier Bistro for a delicious meal with good-sized portions! They have all the classics: onion soup, calamari, tartares, mussels, flank steak, mac & cheese, burgers… A wonderful evening awaits you here at this Old Montreal fixture that has been serving excellent food for the past 15 years.

For the active dad

Salmo Nature, 110 McGill Street

If your dad enjoys getting out into the wilderness, you need to take a trip to Salmo Nature, the biggest store specializing in fly fishing in the east! Experts in all the clothing, equipment, and tools you could need for hunting or fishing, you’ll find a great selection of gifts in store – Laguiole knives and corkscrews, ties, books and DVDs, coffee mugs, and more.

A/maze Vieux-Port, 480 Saint-Jean Street

A/maze has four Montreal locations, one of which is located in the heart of Old Montreal. They have several immersive escape games inspired by scientific and maritime worlds, some that take place indoors and some outdoors. And to extend your outing a bit, stop by the restaurant Inventions for a local beer, a cocktail, and a few appetizers to snack on.

Fanabox, 28 Saint-Paul Street East

You will find the perfect gift for a sports fan dad in this temple to Formula One and the biggest hockey, soccer, baseball, and basketball teams. The aisles at Fanabox hold Scuderia Ferrari caps, Hamilton and Verstappen champion t-shirts, Maserati phone cases, German soccer team scarves, Canadien and CF Montreal jerseys… To be worn in the stands or on the sofa!

For dad to take care of himself

Clusier, 432 McGill Street

For an impeccable look, even in casual moments of relaxation, at the office, and life’s biggest moments, your destination is Clusier! In an elegantly decorated showroom, highly qualified advisors will help you choose items to replenish the wardrobe of the man in your life. The ultimate offer? A full suit, tailored to fit!

Trépanier, Image and Style, 60 Saint-Jacques Street

Does the man in your life enjoy looking put-together, but maybe lacks the time or needs a helping hand with shopping? Trust in Patricia Trépanier, boasting 12 years of experience in styling for the discerning gentleman.

Belgard, Barber Club, 110 Saint-Pierre Street

At Belgard, barbers of unmatched skill will take great care of dad’s hair and beard. Of course, you’ll want to include an aromatic oil scalp massage in your gift – it feels like heaven!

Spa William Gray, 421 Saint-Vincent Street

Located in the hotel of the same name, this sanctuary of wellness offers multiple kinds of massages and skin treatments, featuring some specialized for the guys. We have a soft spot for their signature Spa William Gray treatment, a massage given on a warmed quartz sand bed that forms to the shape of your body. Say no more, we’re there!

A gift that's sure to please

L’Empreinte, 88 Saint-Paul Street East

There is so much goodness within the walls of L’Empreinte, a co-op of Quebec artisans founded in 1974! For the kitchen: leather or cotton aprons, cutting boards, upcycled lunchboxes, wooden pepper mills, porcelain oil bottles… Maybe your man would at least enjoy a t-shirt emblazoned with a scene from Montreal, a nice pen, or a relaxing candle?

L’Original, 163 Saint-Paul Street West

This new neighbourhood gallery is dedicated to works of street art made from recycled materials. But that’s not all! At L’Original, you can make your own personalized work by choosing from a selection of objects (wall art, canvas, shoes, jacket, bag) and artists. It’s an innovative concept that immediately won us over!

Structure Roasters, 460 rue McGill

Drop by Structure for coffee grounds roasted and packaged in the metropolis. Is your dad completely addicted to this peppy beverage? You should go for a Club Café subscription! On their website, you can take a small quiz to determine what kind of grounds would fit your pa’s tastes best. Super practical!

A greeting card to complete the gift

Mimi & August, 162 Saint-Amable Street

Do you want to express just how much you love dad through words? You can write it all down in an original signed Mimi & August father’s day card. We love the charming, unique illustrations printed on recycled paper and included in compostable wrapping.

Expérience Vieux-Montréal

Put your budget toward a signed Expérience Vieux-Montréal gift card, valid in over twenty neighbourhood locations, including hotels, restaurants, spas, and terraces. A sure value!
