PlacePubliqueatFonderieDarling–18thEdition
Experience contemporary art in the open air!
This summer, Fonderie Darling transforms its forecourt (between Prince and Queen streets) into a vibrant artistic playground with Place Publique, a free outdoor event celebrating contemporary creation in the heart of the Faubourg des Récollets district.
Now in its 18th edition, the project reaches new heights through a collaboration with MR-63 as part of the Corridor Culturel, fostering dialogue between artists and the local Old Montréal community. Nearly nine artists and collectives, both local and international, will bring the space to life with installations, performances, shows, and participatory creations.
New this year: a program of cultural mediation and creative workshops for the whole family, a chance to engage with art in a spirit of discovery and exchange. Complementing Fonderie Darling’s indoor exhibitions, artist residencies, and event programming, Place Publique 2025 energizes public space and broadens access to contemporary art in a welcoming and inclusive setting.
Each date features unique activities and performances centered around the theme of the transforming body. On three festive and performative Thursdays, the open-air space becomes a stage for metamorphosis, where the boundaries between the human, the living, and the fantastical begin to blur:
- July 17 (4 p.m. to 10 p.m.) – Performances by Alex Tatarsky and Gui B.B., participatory activity with Karen Elaine Spencer, and a DJ set by Pretty Privilege.
- July 31 (4 p.m. to 10 p.m.) – Performances by Sarah Chouinard-Poirier and Vir Andres Hera, participatory activity with Atelier Retailles, DJ set by PLZRS, and a festive presence by La Picá Chilenita.
- August 14 (4 p.m. to 10 p.m.) – Performances by Karen Elaine Spencer and Vicky Mettler, participatory activity with Snack Witch, and DJ sets by Badgalquirit and Bellavie.
During all three events, Le Serpent restaurant will offer gourmet delights to enjoy outdoors, extending the experience between performances. A must-visit for curious minds, families, wanderers, and art lovers eager to experience a vibrant corner of Old Montreal from a fresh perspective.
Place Publique at Fonderie Darling is presented with the support of SDC Vieux-Montréal as part of the Programme de soutien à l’offre culturelle du Vieux-Montréal.
