PHIMontréal2026–Presentation
PHI unveils the projects developed as part of the 2026 PHI Montréal Residency by artist Eva Quintas and the collective Spoonful of Dirt, formed by Andrea Williamson and Nina Pariser. Following several months of research, workshops, and exchanges, this exhibition invites the public to discover works in progress situated at the intersection of art, territory, and contemporary environmental concerns.
Through distinct approaches, the artists explore our relationship with the spaces we transform and share. Spoonful of Dirt focuses on animal species once present on the island of Montréal, now displaced by increasing human activity. Through clay and watercolour works created during participatory workshops, these creatures reappear almost like spectral presences, prompting reflection on coexistence between humans and the living world.
Meanwhile, Eva Quintas presents a poetic investigation of the Havre district through photography, video, and collected testimonies. Her work questions our relationship with the St. Lawrence River, notably absent from many of the narratives gathered despite its central role in the landscape and the ongoing transformation of the area.
Blending memory, territory, and collective imagination, the exhibition creates a thoughtful space for dialogue about the ways we inhabit the world—and the futures we are building together.
