On May 25, 2025, the Chapelle Notre-Dame-de-Bon-Secours will host the final concert of the 59th season of the Société de musique contemporaine du Québec (SMCQ), a poignant and beautiful tribute to Canadian composer Jocelyn Morlock, who passed away in 2023.
Conducted by Andrew Gray, this heartfelt evening will feature the SMCQ Ensemble and Voces Boreales, alongside exceptional performers. Among the highlights, The Uses of Solitude will receive its Quebec premiere, performed by the Kalysta Trio, and cellist Chloé Dominguez will deliver a stirring rendition of Exaudi.
The program also includes a captivating new work by Rita Ueda, reflecting on cultural dialogues, as well as a piece for oboe by renowned composer Samy Moussa, performed by Mélanie Harel. The concert will conclude with the striking Sivunittinni by throat singer Tanya Tagaq, ensuring an unforgettable evening.
