Presented in collaboration with Ciné-Quartier, Ciné-rencontres offers much more than a film screening. It is an opportunity to discover the richness of French-language cinema, share impressions, and engage in conversations about the films presented. Launched earlier in 2026, this collaboration reflects Alliance Française’s commitment to making its cultural space a place for gathering, exchange, and dialogue around Francophone cultures.

September 30 – Kairos, by Jennifer Alleyn: 
After spending a year filming abroad, Manu, a 39-year-old actor who was once highly successful, returns to his hometown hoping to resume his career. However, he soon realizes that the industry has changed and roles are no longer as easy to come by. The screening will take place in the presence of actor Emmanuel Schwartz.

October 14 – Ma fille tu seras libre, by Bachir Bensaddek: 
Afghanistan, spring 2002. Forced to marry a 65-year-old man, 15-year-old Zarmina flees her country for Montréal. But her freedom comes at a price: one day, her daughter will have to marry her cousin, who remained in Kabul. Fifteen years later, the agreement resurfaces, and Zarmina refuses to let her daughter face the same fate. The screening will take place in the presence of director Bachir Bensaddek.

October 28 – La Place, by Louis Godbout: 
On their way to dinner, a couple gets into an argument with a stranger over a parking spot. What begins as a simple altercation gradually turns into a confrontation whose repercussions extend far beyond the street. Later, around the dinner table, amid laughter and confidences, the evening unfolds under the lingering shadow of the encounter. The screening will take place in the presence of a member of the film’s team.

November 11 – La Petite Dernière, by Hafsia Herzi: 
Fatima, 17, breaks away from her family and neighbourhood to freely explore a sexuality she is still struggling to embrace. But this newfound life, in stark contrast with her past, leads her to question her faith, her relationship with her family, and the traditions she grew up with.

November 25 – La Méthode Scandinave, by Anik Salas: 
Filmmaker Anik Salas travels to Scandinavian societies known for their progress on gender equality to better understand the keys to their success. Part investigation and part manifesto, the documentary explores how change is driven not by chance, but by political will and the implementation of concrete strategies. The screening will take place in the presence of director Anik Salas.

December 2 – L’Incroyable Femme des neiges, by Sébastien Betbeder: 
Coline Morel, an intrepid North Pole explorer, watches her life unravel. After years spent searching for the Yeti, whose existence she alone believes in, she loses her job and her partner leaves her. With her life in disarray, Coline has no choice but to return to her hometown, where she reunites with her two brothers, Basile and Lolo, as well as her childhood sweetheart.
