Street dressing for the Montreal Grand Prix

To mark the Grand Prix in Montreal, the SDC du Vieux-Montréal is renewing its promotional initiative with a street wrap across the district. Visitors will be treated to a magnificent visual experience, in addition to the commercial promotional offensives offered by the various establishments in Old Montreal.

Free photo exhibitions and open-air concerts all summer long in Old Montréal

The SDC Vieux-Montréal is back with a vengeance with the Zone Musique Place d'Armes: a series of varied concerts taking place in the heart of Place d'Armes on sunny days, Monday to Friday between 12 and 1pm. A program of 60 concerts promoting up-and-coming musicians, starting on a fine-weather day on June 12 and running for 12 weeks, giving workers, tourists and residents the chance to discover quality new talent. It's a daily rendez-vous not to be missed!

The photo exhibitions will also be back in the historic district to enhance your experience. You'll have the opportunity to discover two photo series, one located on Le Royer and Saint-Claude streets, entitled Old Montreal: in the heart of business, and a second on de la Commune Street, west of McGill Street, showcasing the work of M'hammed Kilito, a World Press Photo nominee.

Flowering commercial arteries and public squares

Since the end of May, beautification projects in Old Montreal have been getting underway in preparation for the summer season. Hundreds of floral arrangements have been installed on the historic district's main commercial arteries and numerous public squares. Maintained and watered on a daily basis, these flowerbeds will take on magnificent proportions throughout the summer, perfectly complementing the architectural charm of Old Montreal. We salute the work of the teams currently deployed on the territory, who are working to beautify the area and enhance the visitor experience.

Initiatives to enhance the visitor experience: ephemeral spaces, placottoirs and urban oases

In keeping with its commitment to fostering a positive visitor experience in the historic district, the SDC is pleased to renew its development projects, which add a friendly touch to the enchanting setting of Old Montréal. The colorful, floral landscaping is complemented by summer street signage and an extensive network of information kiosks, designed for the various clienteles passing through the district. Considering the urban design, signage and utility tools deployed throughout its territory, Old Montreal is brimming with welcoming initiatives that appeal to both local and tourist clientele.

Petanque courts on the Promenade de la Commune

The double professional pétanque courts under the trees behind the Marché Bonsecours are once again accessible and maintained for the whole summer. No court reservation is required, and anyone wishing to play must bring their own equipment. The SDC Vieux-Montréal will be maintaining and cleaning the courts for the season, and will be holding its Gens du Vieux pétanque tournament, the Classique Vieux-Montréal, again this September.

Mythical Saint-Amable alley

The decor of Saint-Amable alley, with its unmistakable floral arches and local restaurants and bars, is back in the neighborhood. The alley has been redesigned as a charming urban space, with its incredible passion-red bougainvillea and chic arches. You'll definitely want to take a photo here, as well as in a host of other beautiful spots in Old Montreal.
