Saint-PaulWestWinterStation
The Saint-Paul West Winter Station project aims to enhance visitor experience during the colder months, notably through the installation of urban furniture designed for relaxation, cosy fire pits, magical lighting, and entertainment initiatives sure to enliven the neighbourhood atmosphere.
This project, realized by the SDC Vieux-Montréal thanks to the City of Montreal Economic Development Department’s grant program for commercial development corporations in areas affected by major works, harmoniously complements improvements already carried out by the Ville-Marie borough – particularly by increasing the presence of urban furniture in sectors with heavy foot traffic. The creation of an outdoor relaxation area also promotes customer retention in the neighbourhood, in addition to allowing users to re-engage with public space in a fresh and inviting way.
In a beautifully illuminated setting in the front square of the Old Customs House, outdoor fire pits will be lit Thursday through Sunday from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. (weather permitting). On Saturdays, through March 7th, the station offers enhanced programming with Winter Tales, a storytelling activity led by a storyteller from Guidatour, from 3:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m., along with free marshmallow giveaways from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. A musical ambiance accompanies the experience, Thursday to Sunday, from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., adding a warm and festive touch to this winter space.
The Winter Station will run from January 8 to March 15, 2026 inclusive and will be located on Place Royale, north side (front square of the Old Customs House overlooking Saint-Paul Street West)
The Saint-Paul West Winter Station project is made possible with support from the City of Montreal.
