Pointe-à-Callière’s Public Market returns for its 33nd edition!

For one weekend, the plaza of Pointe-à-Callière is transformed into a vibrant 18th-century marketplace with the return of the Public Market, one of Montréal’s most beloved summer heritage events. Now in its 33rd edition, this immersive historical re-enactment recreates the lively atmosphere of a market day under the French Regime, brought to life by costumed characters, artisans, and period-inspired entertainment.

As they stroll through the market stalls, visitors can discover traditional trades and meet skilled craftspeople who continue to practice centuries-old techniques, from woodworking and blacksmithing to weaving and stone carving. The event also highlights Indigenous traditions and knowledge through demonstrations, storytelling, music, and workshops that celebrate a rich and enduring cultural heritage.

Parades, traditional music and dance performances, a military encampment, fencing demonstrations, and interactive activities round out this festive and educational experience. A unique opportunity for visitors of all ages to step back in time and explore Montréal’s history in a lively atmosphere at the heart of Old Montréal.

Pointe-à-Callière’s Public Market is presented with the support of the SDC Vieux-Montréal, as part of the Programme de soutien à l’offre culturelle du Vieux-Montréal.
