30 May 2024 to 13 March 2025

The exhibition Two Five Zero, 1 chapel, 15 artists is set to be an unmissable event this year! The Notre-Dame-de-Bon-Secours Chapel is celebrating its 250th anniversary, and to commemorate this milestone, the team at the Marguerite-Bourgeoys Historic Site came up with the fantastic idea of hosting a plural and interactive exhibition!

14 artists from different disciplines, with different sensibilities and complementary skills, offer their vision of the chapel, and the 15th artist... is the public! The idea is that through “this exhibition, visitors have the unique opportunity to explore the architectural evolution of the building over the decades, from its modest beginnings to its current grandeur, making it a true living work of art.

Following the exhibition, the 14 works will be auctioned off at an evening event on March 13, 2025. Would you also like to have a work in your home? Try your luck by purchasing an exhibition catalog or a $10 ticket, and you could be entered into a draw to win a work by Myriam Van Neste.

Good to know:

In conjunction with this exhibition, the free lecture “Materials and Techniques of the Masters” will be given on June 08, 2024 at the Site historique Marguerite-Bourgeoys by Richard Purdy, pataphysician and guest artist in the exhibition deux-cinq-zéro.

How did artists make the paint they needed for their works before stores sold it? That's what you'll find out “in this lecture, [where] demonstrations will be given on basic natural pigment sources, as well as binders (glues) and other materials that contemporary artists commonly use.”

SDC Old Montreal is proud to support “Materials and Techniques of the Masters” conference as part of its Program to Support the Cultural Offerings of Old Montreal.

Psst: Un pataphysicien kesako? ”A scientist specializing in imaginary solutions” as defined by Alfred Jarry, who theorized it in his book ‘Gestes et opinions du Docteur Faustroll, pataphysicien’.
