Discover the history of the archaeological site of St. Anne's Market and the Parliament of the Province of Canada.

This summer, travel back in time and dive into the political and civic history of Montréal through a fascinating exhibition held in the former Fire Station No. 1, just steps from Pointe-à-Callière.

On this heritage-designated site, explore the remains of the Sainte-Anne Market, Montréal’s very first indoor market, and the Parliament of the Province of Canada, a historic site where major decisions that shaped the country were made. It was right here that French became an official language, responsible government took hold, and political figures like LaFontaine, Baldwin, and Cartier made their mark.

The exhibition takes you behind the scenes of the 19th century with:

  • Nearly 300 artifacts uncovered during archaeological digs between 2010 and 2017
  • Stunning 3D reconstructions of the market and parliament buildings
  • Expert insights to better understand the historical significance of the site
  • Life-size historical figures, offering a fully immersive experience

A must-see for history buffs, curious minds of all ages, and anyone eager to rediscover the vibrant past of Old Montréal.
