Discoverthe18thWorldPressPhotoexhibition
A highlight of Montreal’s cultural calendar, the World Press Photo Exhibition returns to Marché Bonsecours with a powerful new selection of the year’s most compelling press photographs.
Presented in over 100 cities around the world, this prestigious exhibition draws more than 65,000 visitors annually in Montréal alone.
For the 2025 edition, the jury of the World Press Photo Contest, based in the Netherlands, reviewed 59,320 images submitted by 3,778 photographers from 141 countries. From this rigorous selection process, 138 winning photographs were chosen, representing the work of 42 photographers from 30 countries.
Three major themes define this year’s exhibition: conflict, migration, and climate change, poignant narratives that highlight human resilience, the strength of family bonds, and the importance of community. The global jury was chaired by Lucy Conticello, Director of Photography for M magazine (Le Monde), and included Charles-Frédérick Ouellet, a Quebec-based documentary photographer, who represented the North and Central America region—where two of this year’s finalist images originated.
With images of striking emotional power, World Press Photo Montréal 2025 offers an opportunity to reflect, connect, and better understand the realities shaping our world today. An exceptional and deeply human experience not to be missed.
