Stéphane Handfield graduated in law from the University of Quebec in Montreal.

He served 10 years as a member of the IRB in Montreal, where he led various issues, including the commissioner facilitator team V, a team specializing in the Middle East complex cases.

In 2005, he turned to private practice. His area of expertise is criminal law and immigration law. He specializes in refugees and humanitarian cases.
