PlaceJacques-Cartier
A place filled with history
Being a former native site, Place Jacques-Cartier was the central gathering point of Old Montreal for centuries.
In the early 19th century, the Château Vaudreuil (former residence of the French Governors, which became a boys' college) burned down. The liquidators decided to use the land for public markets instead.
Over the years, the site's restaurants and street entertainers have made it a tourist hub
