Monarque Restaurant

Restaurants

Open in 2018, Restaurant Monarque represents well the dual concept of the butterfly and royalty, because if there is one business that elegantly marries cuisine from land and sea, respects Quebec tradition, and shows culinary daring within their menu, it has to be this place.

Chef and proprietor Jérémie Bastien learned under the tutelage of his father Richard Bastien, as well as taking his own classes to develop his own personal style. Chic, yet unpretentious, Monarch is the ideal setting for a business meeting, a romantic dinner, or just a meet-up among friends!

We love the convivial atmosphere and both the dishes from the Brasserie side (bone marrow and Burgundy snails, Bastien’s blood pudding, and Prince Edward Isle-sourced beef) as well as the Salle à Manger side (grilled veal sweetbread; half-portion of squab served with sea urchin, grapefruit, and rutabaga) will dazzle the taste buds with real value, gastronomic tradition, and flavour rediscovery.

If the numerous articles devoted to it aren’t enough of an indication of just how much of a staple this young business has become to the Montreal food scene, Tastet further explores and highlights the meaning behind its name: “According to Richard Bastien, this restaurant ensures the perenniality of the name Bastien. The restaurant’s name was carefully chosen. This butterfly, carrying out a generations-long migration, symbolizes the passing of this project from father to son.”

Good to know:

The interior parking at 419 Notre-Dame West, behind the restaurant, is open Thursday, Friday, and Saturday evenings, priced at $12. You must specify that you are going to Monarch.

For private events, you can also rent their reception room, capable of seating 32 persons in traditional dining, or 40 persons in a cocktail dining configuration. Monarch will serve you with a team dedicated specifically to your group. For more details on their menu or prices, you may contact them directly via their website.
