Montreal'sCityHall
A place full of history
Designed by Maurice-Henri Perrault, Montreal's City Hall was built in 1878 but was destroyed by fire in 1922.
Its reconstruction was inspired by the city hall of Tours, in France.
From the balcony on the front façade of the building, Charles de Gaulle declaimed "Vive le Québec libre!" to the great joy of the crowd below.
The Hall of Honour presents exhibitions, conferences and other cultural events from time to time.
