31.12.1969 – 31.12.1969

On the occasion of Journées de la culture, two free lectures are offered in collaboration with the Society for the Study of Ancient Egypt.Saturday 29/09: The temple of the god Amon-Re in Karnak is one of the best-preserved buildings of ancient Egypt (its heyday dates back to 1580 - 1080 BC) and it is also perhaps one of the more known Egyptophiles! Since 2011, UQAM, together with the University of Memphis, has been studying the hieroglyphics of the Great Hall and some of its 130 monumental columns. Come to discover the results of their research! The conference is held from 2 pm to 4 pm, free entrance but a reservation is required.Sunday 30/09: The origin of the world? The inhabitants of ancient Egypt had an idea about the question, but not one single story. It is rather through fragments of funerary literature that guided the deceased in the Hereafter, that tracks are delivered to us, like an enigma in several parts... Want to know more? Unravel the mystery at this conference, which will include excerpts from the Texts of the Pyramids and Sarcophagus! The conference is held from 2 pm to 4 pm, free entrance but a reservation is required.
