A foundation that guarantees access to health care

The Fondation du Centre Hospitalier de l'Université de Montréal was created in 1998 as a nonprofit organization to support the CHUM. Its main goal is to obtain funds in addition to its public funding through donations from individuals, private foundations and businesses. The Fondation also organizes benefit activities and generates income through various complementary activities.

The CHUM provides general, specialized and ultra-specialized care to regional and supra-regional clientele. It carries out the five components of its care mission: teaching, research, evaluation of technologies and healthcare interventions, and health promotion within an integrated network perspective. It is also a hub for medical education in Quebec and manages a research center.
